RUSSELL CHRISTENSEN, North Sanpete, basketball: The Hawks had a great week, and this senior was at the heart of it all.
In wins over Gunnison, Ogden and Ben Lomond last week, Christensen scored 24, 16 and 13 points respectively. He recorded a double-double in two of those games, giving him seven double-doubles on the season for 5-3 North Sanpete.
Christensen, who was a Deseret Morning News all-state football player, is among the state's leading scorers at 19.9 ppg.
MORGAN BAILEY, Timpanogos, basketball: This sophomore post player may not be the most experienced player on the floor, but she is leading the T-wolves with her ability and effort.
"She is doing great things for us," said Timpanogos head coach Liz Darger.
Bailey had "a monster game" against Davis with 28 points and 12 rebounds, and is leading the team offensively with 15 points per game. She is anchoring the defense by grabbing 7.5 rebounds per game.
