OREM An Orem man arrested for investigation of DUI had more than just a hangover headache when he sobered up he had split open his forehead twice banging around in the back seat of a police car.
The night began around 8 p.m. when the 27-year-old man got drunk, then crashed an employee Christmas party Saturday night at the Gold's Gym on 800 North, said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards.
The man was not invited to the party, having been fired several weeks before.
After dragging one woman to the floor and trying to make out with her, the man left the party and was quickly stopped by police for investigation of DUI, assault and disorderly conduct.
The disorderly conduct continued when the man was arrested, as he bashed his head on the window and the back seat cage, Edwards said.
Because he'd sliced open his head, officers took the man to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center to get stitches, Edwards said.
When the man was put back in the police car, he broke the stitches with another round of banging.
On his second visit to the hospital, the staff was tired of dealing with him and refused to re-stitch the wounds, Edwards said.
The man was booked, bleeding, into the Utah County Jail for investigation of disorderly conduct, DUI, resisting arrest and damage to jail or confinement. He is being held on $7,500 cash or bond bail.
