Countdown to Poinsettia, Las Vegas Bowls

Poinsettia Bowl — Thursday

Utah (8-4) vs. Navy (8-4)
at San Diego, 7 p.m. (ESPN)

WHAT THEY DID — After a morning practice at the University of San Diego, the Utes spent two hours at the Miramar Speed Circuit racing go-karts and playing video games in an event dubbed the "Poinsettia Bowl Grand Prix."

TODAY'S SCHEDULE — Another practice — the Utes' second and final one in San Diego — and a trip to Sea World. Navy, meanwhile, will visit the San Diego Zoo. Representatives from both teams will then visit the Ronald McDonald House to hang out, have dinner, play games and distribute gifts to children and families.

Las Vegas Bowl — Saturday

BYU (10-2) vs. UCLA (6-6)
at Las Vegas, 6 p.m. (ESPN)

WHAT THEY DID — BYU held a closed practice session Monday afternoon at the Indoor Practice Facility in Provo.

TODAY'S SCHEDULE — After holding practice today, the Cougars depart for Las Vegas. The Bruins are also scheduled to arrive in Las Vegas today.

QUOTABLE — "With the game on ESPN, most of the nation will be watching. It's a chance for us to shine a little bit and prove that we can play with anybody." BYU quarterback Max Hall.

"I was talking to the senior defensive backs and asked them, 'How do you guys feel about this being your last collegiate game? They all said they just want to go out a winner."UCLA interim head coach DeWayne Walker.

LAS VEGAS BOWL NOTE — While BYU won its first bowl game in 10 years last season, UCLA has won only three of its last 10 bowl games.
