HUMBOLDT, Iowa — Meg Fink, a 14-year-old eighth-grader here, just had to make sure.

So as she greeted Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney at the end of his chat in the Rustix Restaurant, she asked him for a favor.

Could she touch his hair?

Mentions of Romney's hair often find their way into profiles of the former Massachusetts governor. No doubt, his well-coiffed appearance contributes to his movie idol looks.

Romney, momentarily taken aback by Fink's request, gladly obliged. He bent down low and took her hand and placed it on the back of his head. The presidential candidate and the teenager, braces glinting, then grinned for a snapshot.

Fink said she first laid eyes on Romney while watching Wednesday's Republican presidential debate on television.

"It was the first time I saw him and I was, like, he has nice hair!"

It appeared to be just the right touch.

"I really admire him," she said after. "I think he's a great guy."
