PITTSBURGH Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger practiced Friday after sitting out two days because of a sore right shoulder, a sign he expects to play Sunday against Jacksonville.
Steelers players normally must take part in the final full practice of the week on Fridays before they can play on Sundays.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin downplayed Roethlisberger's sore shoulder earlier in the week, saying the injury wasn't significant. However, Roethlisberger's absence from practice Thursday was a surprise that raised questions about whether he would play Sunday.
Roethlisberger, listed as questionable on the injury report, has started the Steelers' last 28 games.
Roethlisberger felt soreness in his throwing shoulder during the Steelers' 34-13 loss Sunday at New England, but never left the game.
The Jaguars and Steelers have 9-4 records and the game could affect the AFC playoff pairings.
NO CHARGES IN SHOOTING: A San Diego police officer won't face criminal charges for shooting and wounding former San Diego Chargers linebacker Steve Foley during a late-night confrontation in September 2006.
San Diego District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis said Friday that Officer Aaron Mansker acted in self-defense.
Mansker was off duty, out of uniform and driving his own car on Sept. 3, 2006, when he tailed Foley to his suburban home on suspicion that the football player was driving drunk.
Foley, who was unarmed, got out of the car to confront Mansker, who responded by shooting the player in the left leg, hip and hand. The injuries ended Foley's football career.
Foley pleaded guilty in May to misdemeanor drunken driving charges.
WADE SITS OUT: Vikings leading receiver Bobby Wade is questionable for Minnesota's game against the Chicago Bears on Monday night because of a sore knee. Wade was held out of practice Friday with some swelling in the knee he first hurt on Oct. 28 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Wade, whose 40 receptions and 451 yards are team highs, said he wasn't worried about the injury. He has played in all 13 games for the Vikings (7-6). "It's kind of something that I've been working with, but it's nothing that's going to stop me from playing," Wade said.
