HUNTINGTON, Emery County A man was killed when he was pinned between two pieces of heavy machinery outside a coal mine.
Emery County Sheriff's deputies said David Whiting, 31, of Elmo, died Wednesday morning while trying to pick up a load of coal at the C.W. Mine near Huntington.
"He got stuck trying to get the coal load out. They got a loader to pull him up the hill," Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon said. "As they were hooking the loader up to the truck, he was between it."
Deputies believe that either the brakes failed on the loader or it slipped backward on snow and ice. Whiting was pinned between the two and killed, the sheriff said.
