Search is on for missing plane in southern Utah

CEDAR CITY — Search and rescue teams have launched a search for a small plane believed to have crashed somewhere along the Iron-Beaver county line.

Emergency dispatchers said the plane was reported overdue about 1:30 p.m.. Tuesday. A distress signal was picked up in northern Iron County, about 10 miles from the town of Minersville.

Dispatchers said the plane was headed toward St. George. Iron County Sheriff's deputies and the Civil Air Patrol are involved in the search.
