A man charged with knocking his ex-girlfriend into the ground with a car, stabbing her teenage son four times and slashing their dog's throat with a knife was found guilty by a jury on related charges.

A jury in 3rd District Court found 53-year-old Henry Louis Jackson guilty Friday of two counts of first-degree felony attempted aggravated murder and class-B misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and simple assault.

The charges stem from a 2006 incident outside the South Salt Lake condominium of the ex-girlfriend. Prosecutors say Jackson smashed into her car with his car when she and her son returned to her condo after buying some food. When her 17-year-old son tried to intervene, Jackson chased the teen and stabbed him repeatedly. Jackson also stabbed the family dog in the neck.

Prosecutors said the ex-girlfriend was trying to break up with Jackson, who became jealous and threatening.

No sentencing date has been set, pending action on post-trial defense motions.
