Bob Steiner, a member of the school's board of trustees, said that approval is likely to come.
"We just need more time," Steiner said.
The school plans to use the 13 acres for educational and recreation purposes.
The City Council will vote on the issue next week.
• International consulting firm Economics Research Associates gave a mostly favorable review of The Leonardo's business plan, saying the art, science and culture center likely will be viable, provided a few issues are addressed.
"There are a few areas where we have some constructive criticism, but none of those are deal-breakers," said John Robinett, ERA senior vice president.
Salt Lake City has the right market size and demographics to support a science center, Robinett said, and The Leonardo's projections for attendance, operating budget, pricing and mix of earned and contributed income are within industry standards.
However, estimated revenue from workshops and groups renting space in the center for events are high, ERA officials said. The consultants also call the center's heavy reliance on corporate sponsorship risky.
