Flash pleased with road win against Anaheim

After splitting their first two games at home, both of which came down to the last second and featured 3-pointers from guard Michael Cuffee with one second left, the Flash traveled to Southern California to play two games in Anaheim against the Arsenel.

Utah won Monday night's first game 102-90 behind guard Kevin Kruger's 17 points and six assists and center James Lang's 17 points and eight rebounds.

"Any road win is a great win," Flash coach Brad Jones said in a press release. "After Fes (Kyrylo Fesenko) was recalled to the Jazz over the weekend, James Lang stepped up on both ends of the floor and played big."

Wednesday's game was played well after the press deadlines for this Utah Valley Life section.

Upcoming games

The Flash return home this weekend for a pair of games against the Los Angeles D-Fenders. The games will be played Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the McKay Center at UVSC in Orem.

Utah played the D-Fenders in their second game of the season, losing 102-99.

"They're good," Jones said. "They have some veteran guards. They really tore us apart in Los Angeles. Hopefully, we'll play better next time against them."

Player transactions

The Flash have had a busy week with their two NBA affiliates, the Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics. After four games with the Flash, the Jazz recalled center Kyrylo Fesenko because of injuries to forward Carlos Boozer and center Mehmet Okur.

Fesenko responded by getting six points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes in his NBA debut against the Los Angeles Lakers.

"I was really excited to see him go up there and get some positive return on all the work he's done with us," Jones said. "That's what the D-League is all about. He's getting into better shape and learning to play. Overall, his aggressiveness and his confidence has gotten better from playing as opposed to sitting on the bench and watching."

Flash General Manager David Fredman said the team expects Fesenko to rejoin them after Boozer and Okur get healthy again, saying that Jazz coach Jerry Sloan indicated that he was happy with Fesenko's progress, but he needs to keep playing.

Also, the Celtics have reassigned guard Gabe Pruitt to Utah. Pruitt was recalled after the Flash's first two games after guard Tony Allen suffered a sprained ankle.

"We're happy to have (Pruitt)," Fredman said. "We understand that injuries play a major part of our role with our NBA affiliates. Fesenko came up because the Jazz had some injuries, and Gabe had to go back earlier than anticipated because Allen got hurt. We're glad to have him back."
