JACKSON PUZZLED: According to the Orange County (Calif.) Register, Lakers coach Phil Jackson "was puzzled at the boos that greeted (ex-Jazz guard) Derek Fisher on Utah's court on Friday."
Said Jackson: "Of course, you have to take into account the patrons in Utah the type of people you're dealing with. ... I think anything short of total loyalty there (is seen as a) traitor."
With his young daughter Tatum battling a rare form of childhood eye cancer, Fisher asked out of his contract with the Jazz this past offseason and re-signed with the Lakers.
O'NEAL WONDERING: Under a note headlined "O'Neal Questions Play," the Miami Herald reported that after attempting just seven shots from the field and hitting six in a Friday loss to Boston that "Heat center Shaquille O'Neal wasn't defiant. But he made his point clear when he questioned why the offense seems to go away from him for stretches late in games."
Meanwhile, the Heat left for their current six-game trip without reserve guard Smush Parker amid investigation of an alleged arm-twisting assault of a female valet manager over a $12 parking charge.
