PLAY OF THE GAME
With BYU nursing a slim 13-10 lead and inside the SDSU 20 late in the first half, Max Hall leads Austin Collie with a perfect right-sideline pass. Making a one-handed grab for the 17-yard TD, Collie "single-handedly" helps BYU post a double-digit lead that would never fall below seven.
KEY CALL
BYU offensive coordinator Robert Anae grounds the Cougar attack in the second half, with 32 of BYU's 42 third- and fourth-quarter plays going on the ground. The result nearly 200 yards rushing in the half, allowing QB Max Hall to add a complimentary 9-of-10 passing for 130 yards.
QUOTABLE
"I'd like to play the very best team possible, one that will be competitive in nature, as we'll be." Bronco Mendenhall, BYU head coach
UP NEXT
The Cougars await a bid to the postseason, most likely a third straight trip to the Las Vegas Bowl. BYU is still technically alive for a BCS bowl berth, but that was a long shot entering Saturday, even before games like UCLA-USC and Arizona-Arizona State didn't go the Cougars' way.
