New York Times Crosswords (DS, Majesco Entertainment) "New York Times Crosswords" doesn't take long to figure out. Gamers use the DS stylus and write letters in a box that correspond to a box in a crossword puzzle. It's that easy. But figuring out the right letter is where the challenge lies. The game is for the crossword addicts, but can also turn addictive for those who just pick up the game for fun. Like the syndicated New York Times Crossword puzzle in the Deseret Morning News, gamers can do a "puzzleweek" where the clues get progressively more difficult. Other choices are "quick puzzles" and "challenges" that all have a tendency to improve one's vocabulary.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii; Nintendo) Last year, the "Legend of Zelda" franchise got a huge boost when "Twilight Princess" was released for the Nintendo Wii. With the interactive controllers, gamers playing as the main character Link can wield it like a sword or a slingshot and use it to take down orcs and other dark creatures of the night. The goal, of course, is to save the world from falling into shadow, but with storyline twists and challenging boss battles, the mission isn't that easy. But those who play have fun nevertheless.

Rock Band (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii; MTV Games) Take music-based gaming to a whole new level. Four players take on the role of lead guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals to win the crowd's approval. Play to a variety of music tracks that span various rock genres. Take a role and form a band to play in-house or live against complete strangers online.

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow (PSP; Sony Computer Entertainment) This latest installment of the Syphon Filter series proves to be the best one yet. New weapons, combat and a compelling story keeps the action moving. Use stealth to your advantage to infiltrate enemy bases.

M for Mature:

Assassin's Creed (PS3, Xbox360; Ubisoft) Take a trip to the past where the conflict of the Third Crusade is driving the Holy Land to ruin. Play as the assassin Altair, a member of a secret order whose calling is to punish evil-doers on all sides and reshape history.

Bioshock (PC, Xbox 360; 2K Games) Take a trip back to the future in this art-deco take on a futuristic undersea city plagued by genetically altered lunatics. Solve the mystery behind the city's founder while battling foes with a variety of weapons and personal genetic enhancements.
