A former national security advisor will help kick off the Middle East Lecture Series at the University of Utah Thursday with a discussion on his new book, "Winning the Right War: The Path to Security for America and the World."
Philip Gordon, senior fellow for United States foreign policy at the Brookings Institution, member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Board of the U.S. Committee on NATO is invited to head up the series, which focuses on U.S. relations with Middle Eastern countries.
"Gordon embodies depth and decency with case," said Ibrahim Karawan, director of the Middle East Center at the U. "His ability to capture the complex dimensions of European and Middle Eastern politics is outstanding."
He has participated in lectures at the U. before, evoking a memorable response from many students and faculty, Karawan said.
The lecture will take place at 4 p.m. in the Hinckley Caucus Room, No. 255, Orson Spencer Hall at the U. The entire lecture series is free and open to the public.
