Sandy police say they have new leads in the case of a college hockey coach gunned down outside a Village Inn restaurant.
"Some of those leads look very good and promising," said Sandy Police Sgt. Victor Quezada.
Although he would not get into details on those leads, Quezada said some of the old leads detectives were following have produced new ones and have pointed them in the direction of possible suspects.
Kenneth G. Dolezsar, 50, was shot multiple times and killed in the parking lot of Village Inn, 10600 S. 150 West, where he reportedly was going to meet a friend or acquaintance for breakfast on Nov. 15. The gunman fled in Dolezsar's SUV, which was found abandoned at a nearby cemetery.
Some forensic evidence was recovered from the vehicle and sent the the Utah State Crime Lab.
The Springville resident was the assistant hockey coach for the Wolverine hockey team at Utah Valley State College. Dolezsar's funeral was Friday.
A third man witnessed the shooting right in front of his car as he sat inside. The gunman was described as white man with tan skin, in his early to mid-40s, between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches, and approximately 230 pounds. He had thick, black hair tied in a ponytail. The man was last seen wearing a brown suede jacket.
