I recall reading about a woman who had lived in the Eastern bloc walking into one of our grocery stores, but after a few minutes she had to walk back out. Coming from her situation — standing in a line for hours each day just to procure bread — she simply couldn't be in the store. It was too overwhelming.

On and on it goes, from car seats to legal note pads, these items may not rank with the emotional stir of birthing a baby or discovering iodine, but their usefulness can bring a grateful "ahh" in the day-to-day or emergency moment. This week, I encourage all of us to take a moment and reflect on the people in history who have taken time and energy in their lives to better give time and energy to ours.

LIFETip: Take a moment today and individually or with your family list 25 things you use daily that you are grateful for. Consider researching one and sharing your findings!
