SOUTH SALT LAKE Police have arrested a man they said abused a 2-month-old baby so severely, she had to be hospitalized.
Paramedics were called to a home near 48 West and 3300 South on a child with a breathing problem. The baby girl was transported to the hospital, where police said she remains in critical condition.
Investigators with the Division of Child and Family Services notified South Salt Lake police that child abuse was suspected, police said in a statement Wednesday. That led them to Everado Mendoza, 22, who was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of child abuse and child endangerment.
