AMERICAN FORK — Joshua Creek not only has a following in Utah County, the two-man band has gained an international audience.

The band, composed of Brigham Young University professor Quint Randle and junior high school teacher Jeff Hinton, recently had a No. 1 song on the International Country Gospel Top 100 Chart.

The chart-topper, "What Kinda Car?" hit the top position in November. The song answers the question national radio host Glenn Beck once posed on the air: What kind of car would Jesus drive if he were here today?

"What Kinda Car?" is being played on the Country Gospel Connection, a syndicated radio show that reaches 60 million households in more than 200 markets around the world, from the southern United States to New Zealand. The song is featured on the group's first CD, "Joshua Creek."

The pair just released their second album, "Heaven's Not That Far."

Last week, Joshua Creek was one of the featured groups at "Home for a Hero, A Night of Thanksgiving" benefit concert at Willowcreek Middle School. Sponsors were Alta Vista Homes, Mikes Guardian Eagle Foundation and Homes for our Troops.

Performers joined together to build a home for a soldier, which will go to Sgt. 1st Class Gordon Ewell, who was seriously injured while serving in Iraq and is now legally blind. The home is being built in Eagle Mountain to meet his specific needs and the needs of his family.

Performing artists, in addition to Joshua Creek, were Angie Ferre, Jericho Road, the International Children's Choir, Jaden Bliss, Alex Boye, Jenny Jordan Frogley, Genevieve Christiansen, George Dyer and the Three Tenors.

Joshua Creek will perform at another benefit concert to help the family of James Timothy Hall, a Payson resident who recently died of injuries suffered in a car accident in which he rescued his son despite suffering severe injuries of his own.

The Joshua Creek Benefit Concert features KNRS 570 AM radio host Bob Lonsberry on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Miller Free Enterprise Center Auditorium on the Salt Lake City College campus, 9750 S. 300 West, Sandy. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5.70 and are available online at: www.deseretbook.com.
