BYU/Utah

VOLLEYBALL: BYU junior outside hitter Bryn Porter and Utah senior outside hitter Kate Robison have been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Co-Players of the Week.

Porter, a Camarillo, Calif., native, posted back-to-back double-digit kill matches for the Cougars, helping BYU to a 2-0 conference record, including an upset over then-No. 25 UNLV.

Robison, from Syracuse, led the Utes to a 2-0 conference record with wins over then-No. 25 UNLV and San Diego State. For the week, Robison averaged 4 kills, 3.14 digs, 1.00 blocks and 4.50 points per game in seven games played.

Weber State

TENNIS: Weber State University tennis coach Jonas Ehrlin has recently signed Brittiny Moore from Meridian, Idaho to a National Letter of Intent. Moore, a senior from Mountain View High School, is ranked second in Idaho and ninth in the Mountain Region

Southern Utah

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Southern Utah women's basketball coach Steve Hodson announced the signings of four freshmen making up what some are calling the fantastic four for 2008-09. The four are Cassie Platt (Canyon View), Morgan Wood (Beaver), Amanda Farish (Lone Peak) and Dani Hosking of Davis.

BASEBALL: Following a solid freshman season in which he led the Thunderbirds in batting average, Southern Utah's Bucky Aona was named to the 2007 Ping All-Freshmen team as an honorable mention selection. Aona led Southern Utah with a .337 batting average and added four home runs and 25 RBI in 51 games.

Utah State

SOFTBALL: Utah State softball coach Candi Letts has announced that three players have signed with the Aggies. Joining USU will be junior college transfer Rachel Evans, along with Las Vegas freshmen Rayna Bradshaw and Jasmine Harris. Evans, an infielder from Viewmont, is transferring to USU after two seasons at Southern Idaho.
