The March of Dimes 2007 National Public Affairs Leadership Award was presented to Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, recently in Washington, D.C.

The foundation lauded his leadership as a key author of the bill to reauthorize the State Children's Health Insurance Program. He also sponsored the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2008 to provide federal support to states to expand and improve newborn screening programs.

The award recognizes outstanding leadership by members of Congress and the executive branch in the fields of maternal and child health and not-for-profit public policy. The Utah Chapter of the March of Dimes presented the award to Hatch at the national conference.
