Because Veterans Day is on a weekend and falls on a Sunday this year, several events honoring veterans have been held the past few days. More are planned today, which will be observed as a holiday by many. Among the events still on the docket:

Today

• Farr West, Weber County: In a Veterans Day commemoration at 9 a.m., Associated Food Stores will unveil a tribute to current servicemen, servicewomen and veterans at its distribution center, 1825 W. 2550 North. One of the food distributor's new 42-foot semitrailers has been painted as a tribute to America and all veterans. Three employees who have served in either Iraq or Afghanistan are pictured. The Brigham City Fire Department and Weber County Fire District will escort the truck and trailer and provide a 21-shell salute.

• Taylorsville-Kearns: The Entheos Learning Academy of Kearns will present veterans with a painting and a reading of an original poem, "Because You Were There," in a celebration from noon to 2 p.m. at the Taylorsville Assembly Hall, 1247 W. 4800 South.

• Salt Lake City: Soldier Ty Norager and professional photographer Cat Palmer will display their photography and hold a special reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Utah Arts Festival Gallery, 230 S. 500 West. The exhibit features photos Norager took while serving this year in Iraq and pieces shot by Palmer, whose images convey her push for peace in the Middle East.

• Riverton: Riverton city and the Riverton Metropolitan Orchestra will honor those who have served and are currently serving our country in the military at 7:30 p.m. at the Sandra N. Lloyd Performing Arts Center, 12830 S. 1700 West. Admission is free.

Wednesday

• Draper: The American Preparatory Academy, 12892 S. Pony Express Road, Draper, is inviting veterans to attend its annual celebration at 9 a.m.
