A man who police say assaulted a woman in retaliation for being shot by her boyfriend was charged in 3rd District Court this week.
Antonio Shropshire was charged with attempted criminal homicide, a first-degree felony. Shropshire, also known as "A-Down," went to a party Oct. 28 in Salt Lake City and attacked a woman sitting on the couch.
"A-Down walked up to her and kicked her in the face, knocking her to the floor, where he continued to kick her repeatedly in the face and body," according to court documents.
Shropshire then put his hands around the woman's throat and choked her until she lost consciousness, the report stated.
Investigators believe the beating was retaliation for a July 24 incident in which Shropshire was shot in the buttocks while standing in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant.
Shropshire was arrested Nov. 2.
