The Utah Department of Transportation has announced the completion of a road-widening project along 5600 West that added two new lanes to the roadway from 4450 South to 6200 South.
The agency plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday to mark the end of construction. UDOT says the project will help with traffic problems in the area and improve safety.

In search of a Memorial Day column, I wandered into Memory Grove (who said columnists can't grasp the obvious?) and as I walked by the various war monuments, I came upon the best-looking structure there: the Meditation Chapel, which might have been transplanted straight from Athens.
