PROVO His Excellency Mahmud Ali Durrani, Pakistani ambassador to the United States, will discuss "Pakistan-U.S. Relations" at a Brigham Young University Global Awareness Lecture on Wednesday at noon in Room 238, Herald R. Clark Building.
Durrani became ambassador of Pakistan to the United States in 2006. He graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy in 1961 and served in various command and instructional appointments during his military career. After retiring from the army, Durrani was actively involved in the peace efforts between Pakistan and India.
Durrani also worked with former senior officials from the United States, Russia and Iran as part of a process sponsored by the U.N. to find a peaceful settlement to the Afghan crisis. He is the author of several books and studies, including "India and Pakistan: The Cost of Conflict and the Benefits of Peace."
