HUNTER DEF. TAYLORSVILLE 20-25, 13-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-12: The Wolverines came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Warriors in a five-game marathon.

BRIGHTON DEF. WEST JORDAN 25-9, 16-25, 25-19, 16-25, 15-13: Brighton managed to pull out the first-round five-game victory over West Jordan, advancing to the quarterfinals against Viewmont.

LONE PEAK DEF. NORTHRIDGE 27-25, 25-6, 25-20: Lone Peak took out the Knights in three games, led by Lacey Laycock's nine service aces and 30 assists, and Lacey Cramer's 10 kills.

VIEWMONT DEF. LEHI 25-20, 25-18, 25-17: The Vikings lived up to their No. 1 seed and took out the Pioneers in three games, moving on to the quarterfinals against Brighton.

FREMONT DEF. PLEASANT GROVE 25-18, 25-21, 25-17: The Silver Wolves took control early and swept their first-round match against the Vikings.

AMERICAN FORK DEF. LAYTON 25-22, 18-25, 18-25, 25-14, 15-8: American Fork's Tatum Porter finished the match with three aces in a row, giving the Cavemen the tough five-game victory over the Lancers in the first round of the state tournament.

American Fork advanced to play Davis in the quarterfinals, and Layton faced Riverton in the consolation bracket.

SKYLINE DEF. BINGHAM 25-21, 25-15, 26-24: Skyline swept the Miners in three games.

DAVIS DEF. RIVERTON 25-15, 25-20, 26-24: The Darts knocked off the Region 3 champion Silverwolves in three games.

NORTHRIDGE DEF. TAYLORSVILLE 25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20: The Knights stayed alive in the one-loss bracket with a win over the Warriors. Northridge advances in consolation play, while the loss eliminated Taylorsville from the tournament.

LEHI DEF. WEST JORDAN 25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-16: The Pioneers put it together against the Jaguars and finished things off in four games to advance to the next round of the consolation bracket.
