SOUTH SALT LAKE An 11-year-old boy was in serious condition Friday after being hit by a van while riding his bicycle near the intersection of 3300 South and State Street, according to South Salt Lake police.
Officer Gary Keller said the boy was attempting to head east across State Street about 3:15 p.m. A white van was making a right turn onto 3300 South from southbound State Street, and the boy was struck as he rode his bicycle into the intersection, Keller said.
The incident is still under investigation. Keller said his department wanted to warn bicyclists and pedestrians to use caution around busy streets. "The main thing we want to stress is bicycle safety with these children and all cyclists," he said.
