Salt Lake police say an argument over a drug debt led to the shooting of a man Thursday.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the confrontation near 800 South and 900 East.
About 1 p.m. Thursday, two groups of people in separate cars met in a parking lot. A 27-year-old woman, known by police as the leader of a drug distribution ring, believed the two men in the other car were responsible for stealing meth from her, said Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard.
The woman ordered the men into her car, but they said no, according to Bedard. One man then took out a pair of nunchucks and hit her car with them.
The woman responded by having a 22-year-old man in her car hand her a gun. She fired twice. One of the bullets went through the windshield of the other vehicle, striking a man's hand in the backseat, Bedard said.
Police were called about an hour later to a house near 700 East and 3400 South, where they found the two men.
The woman and the man in her car were later found by police and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted homicide.
