Hector Barreto, the former administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Weber State University.
The presentation will be in the Wattis Business Building's Smith Lecture Hall. It is free and open to the public and will conclude with a reception and book-signing opportunity.
Barreto was administrator for five years, starting in July 2001. His presentation will focus on his time at the helm of the SBA, as well as his recently published book, "The Engine of America," which seeks to motivate and inspire entrepreneurs through stories and ideas of business leaders from across the United States.
Barreto currently is chairman of the Latino Coalition, a national initiative that recognizes Hispanic small-business owners and community leaders. He also works as the chairman of the nonprofit organization Business Matchmaking and previously served as the vice chairman of the board for the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
