• The Utah Orchid Society is holding its fall show at Red Butte Garden, Nov. 3 and 4, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nonmembers are welcome to exhibit healthy, insect-free orchids. Society members will be there to answer questions, and some orchids will be for sale.

The society holds its meetings on the second Monday of the month at the Garden Center in Sugarhouse Park, 1610 E. 2100 South. Socializing and/or plant sales start at 7 p.m., and the formal program begins at 7:30. Visitors are welcome. Check online at www.utahorchidsociety.com.

• Thanksgiving Point Gardens, basic landscape design class, is Tuesdays, Nov. 6, 13 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Get professional results whether designing your first landscape or remodeling an existing landscape.
