ST. GEORGE Dixie State College of Utah said Wednesday that it has been given approval to add a men's soccer program, contingent upon final budget reviews that will occur in April.
With the addition of men's soccer, Dixie State College will be the only institution in the state to offer NCAA intercollegiate men's soccer at any classification. Currently, schools within the region sponsor men's soccer at a club-team level.
DSC director of athletics Dexter Irvin said that a search for a head coach will begin in January. Play could start in the fall of 2008 with a schedule of matches made up primarily against Pacific West Conference opponents.
