HYDE PARK, Cache County A 17-year-old boy was killed and seven of his friends were hospitalized on Monday following a 5:45 p.m. rollover accident.
Keith Andrew Hyer II, a student at Logan High School, died in the hours following the accident.
A 13-year-old girl injured in the crash was taken to a Salt Lake hospital via helicopter Monday night. She was recovering from surgery Tuesday, said North Park police officer Gary Bunce.
The six other passengers were treated at Logan hospitals.
The crash on state Route 91 near Hyde Park Lane (3700 North) occurred as the friends were headed to work at Richmond Haunted Mansion. It may have been caused by a full-size white van cutting off the SUV, police said. The SUV swerved, then rolled three times.
Several of the passengers, including Hyer, were ejected, Bunce said. Their bodies were strewn across the street when police arrived.
Police continued to investigate the crash on Tuesday. They had little information about the van but are looking for its driver, Bunce said.
Those with information about the crash circumstances have been asked to call North Park police at 435-716-7600.
