PROVO A man who allegedly choked his girlfriend and threatened her with an air-soft gun is in jail for investigation of aggravated assault.
The 29-year-old man from Pleasant Grove was arrested early Tuesday morning after he racked his gun, held it to his girlfriend's head and told her he would kill her, then himself, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in 4th District Court.
The 30-year-old Orem woman was able to escape and call police, said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards.
The man also went outside and police found him, allegedly drunk, in a trailer outside the home, near 1100 West and 600 North.
The man gave himself up to the officers who had talked to him via cell phone, Edwards said.
He was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault, evidence tampering, intoxication and false information to a police officer.
