UtahInventor.org will have an Inventor Symposium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Miller Business Resource Center, 9690 S. 300 West, Sandy.
The event is designed to bring together inventors, entrepreneurs and businesspeople from throughout the community to foster cooperation and support while helping inventors locate needed resources.
Inventors Stephen Jacobsen and Woody Norris will be the featured speakers, and 14 breakout sessions will feature topics including "Inventor Incentives and Disclosures," "Strategies for Building a Patent Portfolio," "Software Issues as Part of Corporate IP," "Avoiding Early Pitfalls," "Building Your Team" and "Getting Funding."
The symposium will also feature the announcement of a new innovation awards and recognition program.
The cost is $20, which includes a membership to UtahInventor.org. Registration for the symposium is available at UtahInventor.org.
Symposium sponsors include the Miller Business Resource Center; Ray Quinney & Nebeker; Thorpe North and Western; the Utah Science, Technology and Research (USTAR) initiative; the Utah State Bar and Utah Technology Council.
