OGDEN OFFERING: Ogden city officials are hoping to attract the U.S. governing body of Olympic cycling sports if it relocates.

USA Cycling may be displaced from its current home in Colorado Springs, if the U.S. Olympic Committee decides to tear down the aging Olympic Training Center.

Steve Johnson, USA Cycling's chief executive officer, said Ogden and another city are in the running if the 48-employee organization does relocate. Johnson declined to identify the other city. Johnson, a former professor at the University of Utah, said he met with Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey and Mike Dowse, president of Amer Sports, and was impressed with the city during a recent visit. Johnson said USA Cycling should make a decision by the end of the year.

FEDERER BEATS CANAS: Roger Federer overlooked his recent history against Guillermo Canas, routing the 14th-ranked Argentine 6-0, 6-3 Thursday in the third round of the Madrid Masters. Canas, who beat Federer in consecutive tournaments in March, was broken at love in the second game. Two more breaks of serve gave Federer the first set in 21 minutes.

HENIN ADVANCES: Justine Henin eased into the quarterfinals of the Zurich Open with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Vera Zvonareva on Thursday. Seventh-seeded Daniela Hantuchova was upset by Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 6-3.

BUTTERFIELD SUSPENDED: Missouri senior forward Darryl Butterfield was suspended indefinitely by the team Thursday after being arrested for third-degree domestic assault. In a statement, coach Mike Anderson said he will seek additional information before making a final decision on Butterfield's punishment. He is being allowed to practice with the team. Reports say Butterfield was arrested after a dispute with his girlfriend. He was released by Columbia police Thursday morning after posting $1,000 bond.

He is the second Missouri player to get into trouble in recent months. Forward Kalen Grimes was kicked off the team after his arrest in July for second-degree felony assault after allegedly striking a man with the butt end of a shotgun in St. Louis County.
