Beck Christmas show coming
Popular radio host will perform Dec. 8 in the E Center
Glenn Beck's "Christmas Show" is coming to Utah for the second year in a row, and this time around it's in a much bigger venue.
Beck will appear at West Valley's E Center on Saturday, Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m. Last year's two performances at Kingsbury Hall quickly sold out.
He has become the nation's third most popular syndicated radio host, ranking only behind Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Locally, Beck is heard twice each weekday on KNRS (AM-570), at 9-10 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. In addition, his weekend show airs Sunday, 3-6 p.m., on on KNRS.
Beck can also be seen three times each night, seven days a week, on the cable Headline News Channel.
His Christmas tour will also visit eight other cities, including Orlando, Toledo, Richmond, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Des Moines, Tulsa and Charleston.
Based in Manhattan, Beck has more than 27 years of broadcast experience. The former Top 40 DJ (who worked briefly as a DJ in Provo in the early 1980s) entered the talk-show format in 2001, and his radio show is now approaching 200 stations nationwide.
Millions of listeners are attracted by his storytelling prowess, quick wit, informed opinion and thought-provoking arguments.
Also an author, Beck has a new book, "An Inconvenient Book: Real Solutions to the World's Biggest Problems," coming out Nov. 20.

• FUND-RAISER/AUCTION KCPW (AM-1010, FM-88.3/105.3) is hoping to sign up 600 new station members by Oct. 19 to get a $10,000 challenge grant from Big O Construction.
The station also has an on-air auction on Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. The public can go to www.kcpw.org to check out a list of items in the auction and to find out how to bid on them.
KCPW is a noncommercial public-radio station that relies on donations, grants and fund-raisers to survive.
• RADIO HAPPENINGS The KSL "Nightside Project" will broadcast live from Hinckley Dodge, 2309 S. State, today, 7-11 p.m. Doug Wright will be at a tailgate pep rally on Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Macey's, 1400 N. State, Provo.
