Brian Craven, who lives near 2100 North, said he and his neighbors believe their concerns have been ignored by UDOT. Alpine District has plans to build an elementary school on the south side of that road.

"That's where my kid's gonna go to school, and he'll have to cross a 650-foot highway," Craven said.

Teri Newell, UDOT project manager over Mountain View, said her agency welcomes all comments from residents. Three public hearings will be held next month, and residents are invited to send comments via e-mail, telephone or mail.

If built, Mountain View would require demolition of as many as 384 homes and businesses. The draft study includes a list of addresses that could be affected by the road.

Next week, UDOT plans to release several fact sheets that summarize the environmental study, but a full copy of the document is available at www.udot.utah.gov/mountainview.
