TechniScan Medical Systems Inc., based in Salt Lake City, has been awarded two new Small Business Innovation Research Program grants from the National Cancer Institute.
The grants total more than $267,000.
The company develops ultrasound technology for breast imaging. It also said it has been picked to participate in the National Institutes of Health Commercialization Assistance Program to further develop its UltraSound CT Imaging System.
The company will receive about $1.7 million in the second phase of a previous Small Business Innovation Research grant this year, with an additional $900,000 to support clinical testing next year. That brings the total NIH funding to the company to $3.5 million.
