Developers of a controversial 4,000-acre parcel of land are one step closer to completing one of the biggest annexations in state history to Herriman.
On Tuesday, Herriman's petition to annex the land which used to be part of Bluffdale came before the Salt Lake County Council. By a majority vote, the council opted not to protest the annexation. The public can protest the proposed annexation, but if no complaints are filed by Oct. 21, the land will officially be a part of Herriman on Jan. 1.
The public can file a protest with the county's boundary commission only with the signatures of 25 percent of the property owners within a half-mile of the proposed annexation area.
