Last month Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said his office would send out "no match" Social Security letters to employers who hire illegal aliens and stated that would show us "what enforcement feels like." We are still waiting to see the letters. Now he can conveniently blame a feckless federal judge in San Francisco, who is unwilling to enforce the law, for not having to show us "what enforcement feels like."
The letters would have only been a fair warning to employers, giving them a chance to clean up their act, but now they don't have to worry. Homeland Security will continue with its "pretend" enforcement of immigration laws.
