From Deseret News archives:
Voter response on the question of school vouchers
"All my family are school teachers and they don't like it."
"Because I don't have enough information to vote for it."
"Because I have heard on the TV about private schools not being a good thing."
"Because it's wrong. They are taking money away from public school. They are not certified."
"Don't need a bunch of schools scattered all over the place."
"I feel those vouchers should be put into public schools."
"I just don't have a good feeling about it. I don't understand it fully, I just don't have a good feeling."
Why would you vote in favor of vouchers?
"Because I think people who do have values shouldn't have to be around people who don't have values."
"Because I don't believe that anything the government runs is anywhere near as efficient as the private sector."
"Because I think education needs to change. The private sector does everything better. The government is lousy at everything they do."
"Because public schools don't teach the kids. They can't even read when they come out of school."
"BYU is private and they do better than others."
"I think it was a good way to disperse money."
