GAME OF THE WEEK —New Mexico at Wyoming

Saturday, noon (The mtn.)

For the second straight week, the big game is in Laramie.

And if Wyoming can duplicate what it did in beating TCU last week, the Cowboys will likely be playing for the conference championship come November.

"We know that it's going to be tough to get it done in Laramie," said New Mexico coach Rocky Long, whose Lobos were off last week after losing to BYU in Albuquerque.

A victory would put New Mexico right back in the conference race, but the Lobos will have to contend with one of the best rushing attacks in the country. Against an accomplished TCU defense, the running back duo of Wynel Seldon and Devin Moore combined for 235 yards. Seldon rushed for 100 yards, while Moore, who coach Joe Glenn calls "the fastest guy I've ever coached," ran for 135.

"They can make you miss in a little bit of space," Long said.

The Lobos gave up 112 yards rushing to the Cougars but still have the 17th-best run defense in the nation (89.8 ypg).

TEAM ON THE RISE — San Jose State

After starting the year 0-3, the Spartans, who won nine games last year, looked like a major disappointment. But SJSU (2-0 WAC) has won three straight. Can the Spartans and QB Adam Tafralis give Hawaii a game?

TEAM ON THE DECLING — TCU

After losing at Wyoming on Saturday, the preseason MWC favorite already has two losses in conference play and still has to face Utah and New Mexico at home and BYU on the road.
