1. Jordan (7-1) Class: 5A

Was: 1. Points: 289. Last week: Beat Brighton, 42-35

Outlook: A repeat performance of last week's narrow win over Brighton could mean trouble for the 'Diggers against Skyline. Next up: vs. Skyline, Friday.

2. Bingham (7-1) Class: 5A

Was: 2. Points: 285. Last week: Beat Riverton, 42-12

Outlook: The Miners are starting to hit their stride at the right time. Next up: at Hunter, Friday.

3. Alta (7-1) Class: 5A

Was: 3. Points: 280. Last week: Beat Hillcrest, 64-7

Outlook: Should have no problem with Taylorsville in preparation for Jordan showdown next week. Next up: at Taylorsville, Friday.

4. Timpview (8-0) Class: 4A

Was: 4. Points: 273. Last week: Beat Springville, 51-7

Outlook: Bring on the playoffs already. Region 7 is too easy for the T-birds. Next up: at Provo, Oct. 19.

5. Layton (7-1) Class: 5A

Was: 5. Points: 248. Last week: Beat Syracuse, 27-3

Outlook: Can clinch a share of the region title with a win over Viewmont. Next up: vs. Viewmont, Friday.

6. Pine View (8-0) Class: 4A

Was: 7. Points: 234. Last week: Beat Dixie, 27-6

Outlook: With region title wrapped up, Pine View won't have to leave Southern Utah until the state semifinals. Next up: at Hurricane, Wednesday.

7. Cottonwood (7-1) Class: 4A

Was: 9. Points: 221. Last week: Beat East, 30-29

Outlook: A 16-point fourth quarter rally has Colts in line for region title. Next up: vs. Granger, Friday.

8. Highland (6-2) Class: 4A

Was: 8. Points: 216. Last week: Beat Cyprus, 47-27

Outlook: Can't look past the Panthers like it did in 2006. Next up: at West, Friday.

9. Northridge (6-2) Class: 5A

Was: 10. Points: 206. Last week Beat Clearfield, 28-7

Outlook: Two more wins clinches Knights a home first-round playoff game. Next up: vs. Davis, Friday.
