Questar asks for rate cut

Questar Gas says it wants to charge less for natural gas.

The utility says it filed a $89.6 million rate cut with Utah regulators. If approved, a typical homeowner's annual bill would fall by 9 percent, starting in November.

Questar says its natural-gas costs are down for the second winter in a row. If the cut is approved, rates will be back to where they were in 2004.

Natural-gas prices hit record levels in 2005 after hurricanes knocked out 20 percent of U.S. production. Now, Questar says higher production is pushing prices back down.
