BLUFFDALE The Bluffdale Planning Commission on Tuesday gave an unfavorable recommendation to a rezoning application submitted by a polygamist group.
The Corporation of the Presiding Elder of the Apostolic United Brethren has requested a campus rezone, which would allow it to erect additional buildings on its property without having to repeatedly approach the commission. The group currently holds a conditional-use permit for the land, which has a school on it. The new zone would be an overlay on the current zoning.
The commission concluded it wasn't in the city's best interest to approve the zoning change. It considered not only the current applicant but problems that could arise with future applications for the overlay zone.
The Bluffdale City Council will review the application and the Planning Commission's recommendation before making its decision.
