Timeline of Daggett County Jail escape

Sunday, Sept. 23: Convicted murderers Danny Martin Gallegos, 49, and Juan Carlos Diaz-Arevalo, 27, escape from the Daggett County Jail by climbing a fence.

Monday, Sept. 24: Searchers in vehicles, on foot and in the air hunt for the two escapees, concentrating on Daggett and Uintah counties, Uinta Mountain cabins and along U.S. 191.

Wednesday, Sept. 26: The Utah Department of Corrections announces it will review its procedures and contracts with 20 county jails to house inmates.

Friday, Sept. 28: A Vernal man who said earlier in the week that he had seen the murderers, diverting search teams, admits he lied.

Saturday, Sept. 29: Diaz-Aravelo and Gallegos are captured near Rock Springs.
