Thanks to an assist with air/ground transport, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is sending 67,000 pounds of humanitarian aid to earthquake-ravaged Pisco, Peru, this weekend.

The area was devastated by an 8.0 magnitude quake on Aug. 15, and affected residents still need food and shelter.

The cargo was scheduled to fly out Saturday from Wilmington, Ohio.

The aid includes ultra-high temperature milk, hygiene kits, blankets and school kits that are expected to help some 5,000 people.

ASTAR Air Cargo Inc. and DHL shipping have teamed up with the LDS Church to provide transportation.
