James A. Hewlett has been named general manager of the Intermountain Power Agency, replacing Reed T. Searle, who will retire after serving as general manager since 1989. The change is effective Dec. 1. Hewlett joined IPA in 1981, serving as chief financial officer and assistant general manager. He has directed the agency's financing and investment activities for 20 years.

Dr. Ryan Orgill has joined Utah-based Standard Optical as the optometrist for the company's Tooele location. A Tooele native, Orgill will handle specialties such as ocular disease, low-vision patients, pediatrics, sports vision therapy, surgical co-management and contact lens fitting.

Sean Poynter has been appointed as vice president of the operations-supply chain for Lehi-based XanGo LLC. Poynter will be responsible for the planning, purchasing, vendor relations and quality assurance functions of the operations group. He served 18 months as the vice president of business development for XanGo Japan. Before joining XanGo, Poynter had 10 years of experience in the direct selling industry and also has worked at two accounting and consulting firms. His education includes a degree from Brigham Young University.

Lisa Park, Robyn Geist and Jaclyn Anderson have been promoted at Salt Lake-based Bremer Public Relations Inc. Park is public relations counselor, Geist is public relations associate and Anderson is account coordinator. Park will be responsible for account supervision for a variety of real estate, financial and not-for-profit clients. She joined Bremer three years ago and previously worked at an agency in New York City. Geist will manage day-to-day activities and projects for medical technology, commercial development and other clients, and assist the firm's PR counselors with media relations duties, research and special projects. She joined Bremer in December and previously worked at a book publishing company. Anderson will support the firm's counseling team and clients in developing press releases, creating press kits and compiling media lists. Anderson recently attained a degree from Brigham Young University.

Clark Merkley has been hired as the senior human resources consultant for Employer Solutions Group. Merkley, an attorney, specializes in human resources and health-care issues. He previously was coordinator of human resources at a Utah school district.
