LEHI Energy drinks are turning into a modern-day horror story, according to the Utah County Division of Substance Abuse.
"It's amazing how much is going on with this stuff," said Linda Turner, with the Lehi Community Council, which is sponsoring a free workshop Oct. 4 on the drinks.
"The Truth About Energy Drinks" workshop begins in the City Council chambers, 153 N. 100 East, at 7 p.m.
A 16-year-old Lehi boy was stopped for impaired driving when all he had been drinking were energy drinks, Turner said. In another example, an out-of-control 9-year-old didn't have ADD but consumed too many energy drinks.
Energy drinks can contain between three to 11 times more caffeine than a can of Coke or a cup of coffee. Some contain alcohol, Turner said.
