Grid Picks draw decides tie

Ten of 12 is the best any of 786 Grid Pickers in last week's high school football contest could muster. Most Deseret Morning News readers who entered the contest had trouble navigating one or more of three upsets: Union over Park City, Mountain Crest over Bountiful, and Taylorsville over Brighton.

Four prognosticators picked 10 games correctly and were 11 points off the score of the tiebreaker game. Roger Farnsworth of Layton was randomly selected as the first-place winner. He wins $50 and a Grid Picks T-shirt.

Games in this week's contest are Viewmont at Davis, Hunter at Copper Hills, Riverton at West Jordan, American Fork at Spanish Fork, Pleasant Grove at Timpanogos, Mountain Crest at Box Elder, Murray at Granger, Tooele at Payson, Judge Memorial at Park City, Richfield at Millard, and Layton Christian at Atlamont. The tiebreaker game, for which readers predict the final score in addition to the winner, is Highland at Cottonwood.

Runners-up last week each win a Deseret Morning News Grid Picks T-shirt: Mark Chappell, West Valley City; Brenda Nielsen, Layton; Brett Sims, Ogden; Scott Larsen, Layton; Greg Wootton, Pleasant Grove; and Julie Butler, Hurricane, Washington County.
