Orem man is accused of raping 13-year-old girl

OREM — An 18-year-old is in jail after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old at Parkway Crossing late Friday night.

The man allegedly met the girl and some of her friends at the apartments on 1270 W. 1130 South in Orem, and they went to his apartment, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in 4th District Court.

The girl, from Reno, Nev., later told Reno police she and the man went into his bedroom where they began kissing.

The man asked her to have sex and when she said no, he allegedly cursed at her, threw her down on the bed and took off her clothes, according to the affidavit.

The girl said her sister came into the room and pulled the man off her and they left.

The man was interviewed that night by Orem police and allegedly said he didn't know the girl's name or age but that he thought people had to be 18 years old to live in apartments, according to the affidavit. He denied he and the girl had sex, according to the affidavit.
